Some of you who were in to see me for the first week in the new space know that I had an issue with a few of the doors not closing after we moved in.  Ricky came by (carpenter) and took a look, said he’d come back after we were done for the night and fix.  On Thursday night he tried to call me- I was on the road to the lake already- and with poor cell service at the cottage I wasn’t able to connect with him until Friday morning.  What he told me blew my mind- my little young living diffuser that I had been running to help get rid of paint fumes was actually causing the doors to swell so that they no longer fit!  Whaaattt?  This blew my mind.  Because the doors are new they absorb more moisture and swell more.  So for those of you running diffusers at home, if you have new construction or a new door put in anywhere beware!  It might very well mess with your door being able to close properly.

In other news we somehow made the drive out Thursday night, meaning it feels more like a bit of a rest with 3 nights at the cottage.  On the way there we saw a wild turkey right by the colony south of Elie where we usually see them, and a fox a little further south on the 248 just north of Fannystelle.   At the point not far from our cabin we saw a woodchuck.    It was a hawwwttt weekend at the cabin with no A/C and only 2 fans.  Thankfully beach time happened, and a boat ride- only times I felt cool on Saturday.  I hope you all managed to stay hydrated and cool this weekend, or in the water somewhere.  It’s really important to just keep drinking water, to check on your little people and keep them hydrated, and to check on seniors in your life to make sure they’re drinking lots of water too.  I guess we’ll see what the weather brings this week.

For those who are curious the brussel sprout plants are still alive at this point- and I’m hopeful we will actually get something out of them!  Rest of my garden is sort of there- not my best year not my worst.  Red robin tomatoes are waiting to ripen up- let’s hope so- I spend a fortune on baby tomatoes at the store.   Have a great week everyone!

I’m very excited to announce that Blue Moon Family Chiropractic is now in its new home at 96 Browning Blvd.   The office build started on my son’s birthday, June 8th, and in reality there are a few finishing touches to do.  The plan is to start seeing patients again after the long weekend on July 3rd, 2018.  Since July 2nd is my 15 year anniversary of having my  own business I’m sure I’ll be celebrating all week long.   Many thanks to my carpenter Ricky  Lucier from R Lucier Building, my electrician Dean Bernardin from Wireworks Electric,  my plumber Darren from Plumb-X plumbing, and Mike from Pegcity Hvac who did the dryer vent.  Yes that’s right we’ve put in laundry in expectation that a registered massage therapist will be joining us shortly.   It’s been a hairy few weeks getting everything done,  and I pushed these guys a lot so I thank them very much for getting the job done on time.  I know they are all very busy trades guys and very good at what they do.  Shortline movers were also awesome- very quick and efficient yesterday- another great company.   And also a big thank-you to my tech guys at Aplus computers- Jason and his team have been a big help- Edmund helped me set up my printer yesterday over the phone, and John Vis did a great job helping to get the website published and cleaning it up a bit.  So now that we’ve built it, will you come visit?  I look forward to seeing you all in the new space in the coming weeks.  I will probably be grinning from ear to ear 🙂

So we continue to wait to start construction in our new space.  Stay tuned!  I hope to report that we are under construction next week!  The universe is testing my patience.  But I’m trying to stay cool.  But it’s really really hard!!!  I have faith that  we will be rockin’ it in our new space before you know it.  In the meantime, if you could help a girl out by telling your family and friends that we’re moving into Westwood, and that our phone number will be the same that would help a lot too.   I have been coping with the delays by doing things like baking and icing 95 mini cupcakes in preparation for my son’s 5th birthday this weekend, weeding and then planting the entire garden in two days, and getting caught up on laundry and housework.   This year’s experimental garden plant is brussel sprouts- Kim tells me she’s had no luck with them, but stay tuned as I attempt to grow them this year.  Sadly the pumpkin plant did not look happy at the end of yesterday- hopefully a bit more moisture and it will perk up.   If you’ve been in the garden in the last few days now that the rain has let up make sure you call for an appointment to keep your spinal health in check.

Well I can definitely say that the wheels are in motion to move the practice to Winnipeg.  It has been a lot of change which has been challenging at times, and still is.  I have had to change the business name from Headingley Chiropractic to Blue Moon Family Chiropractic in order to get permits in the city in the new business name.  So we are operating in limbo I guess, under our new name in our old location for now.  I am looking forward to having my own space again and growing the business to help more families with living a healthier life.

Westwood is where I grew up and brings back lots of good memories, of riding my bike to get candy at Bigelows’ Pharmacy, where I worked in University, and now that same strip mall will be our new home.  It’s like coming full circle and I really hope this is our last move!  I look forward to continuing to take care of the many patients who have come to see me over the years and to continue to meet many new patients who could live a healthier life through regular chiropractic care.
